A Walk Down Memory Lane: My Favorite Birthday

Since my birthday is on Saturday, I thought that for todays walk down memory lane I would share with you my favorite birthday. The year was 2000, and I was turning sixteen. Awe sweet sixteen, lots of people I am sure would choose this as a favorite year because of nice elaborte parites or the car they recieved from their parents. This is my favorite birthday for a different reason.
Let me start by saying that my mom is an amazingly fun mother, who always wanted my sister and I to have the best that she could give. So for my sixteenth birthday she agreed to take me and my best friends Chelsea, Jessica, and Katrina to Myrtle Beach for the weekend. My mom allowed us to stay in our own hotel room (she and my aunt were next door); we went to dinner at Dick's Last Resort, we walked down the strip in tight pants and sequinned tops, we went to the Ripley's Haunted Mansion, and stayed up all night talking about boys.
We all had a blast, but the reason this birthday has become so special to me is because it gave me wonderful memories to look back on with one of my best friends, Chelsea, who passed away at the age of 21. When I think of Chelsea, I have many fun memories of times we shared, but I always think of our first "grown up" weekend in Myrtle Beach.

Your Gonna Miss This Moment *Flip Flops*

I have a confession to make… I am about as anti- shoe as you can get! Yep, I am serious. I hate most shoes! Since I guess high school really I have worn rainbows (flip flops) 98% of the time. Even last year when it snowed for two days; I just could not bring myself to wear real shoes! Now this is something that for years I have prided myself with. Rainbows are my favorite shoes and I have had very little use for any other pair. For church or when I need to really dress up I will go for dress shoes or boots- other than that no need!
Sunday as I was getting ready to take my son to a birthday party I donned my cute semi-dressy sweater, jeans, and you guessed it, my rainbows. (Flip flops)  As I looked in the mirror it hit me- I might just be getting too old to pull this off!
I thought about this all day long, and many hours of worry later, I called my mom and cried as I explained my revelation. She tried to comfort me without laughing hysterically, but ultimately agreed that maybe it was time that I  broaden my shoe selection.
So it is with a grieving heart that I promise to buy some real shoes, and socks, and on my birthday I will put away my Rainbows for the entire winter. This much I can guarantee, I am gonna miss being young enough to wear flip flops all year long.

I have been putting off the transition from crib to "big boy bed for about two months now. My reasoning was for one we had a lot of traveling to do September through November and because I am having a hard enough time sleeping since I am six months pregnant and huge! I was scared the endless nights of putting him back in the bed would be more than I could handle at this point.
One night about two weeks ago, we were traveling back home after spending the weekend with my parents, I decided to just try it one time and see how horrible it was! Most of the four hour car ride I talked about how cool Jimmy Jams new room was and his new big boy bed, with his super cool new sheets. I told him that "bear bear" his night time friend really wanted to sleep in the big boy bed and he needed Trace to sleep with him. Trace seemed ok with this idea, so when we got home we went ahead and put bear bear in the bed, brushed our teeth, got dressed, read a story, and said our prayers. He still seemed okay with the idea, so I tucked him in, kissed him goodnight and headed out. Three minutes later I peeked in, and he was still laying in the same spot with his sweet little eyes closed. Three hours later and he still had not moved an inch. I went to bed, hopeful, but not totally convinced. He woke up once for a milk refill and a diaper change and went right back to sleep. At 7 am the next morning I heard him start rolling around. Instead of rushing straight in like I wanted to, I decided to wait and see what he would do. He was quiet for about a minute and then whispered, "Momma, I ache up!" (I wake up) I was thrilled! I went in his room and swooped him up to give him a huge hug. He looked around his room and then to the bed and smiled a big smile and said "Momma big boy bed yeah!"
The past two weeks have been cake! The only small problems occur at nap time. He got out of bed once and jumped on the bed once. Other than that, this whole transition process what ten thousand times easier than I had been expecting it to be! Now if only potty training could go this smoothly!

Join me if you will for this walk down memory lane. Today we are going back to August 2007. My son Jimmy Jam was just a month old

and waking up all hours of the night. I was always tired as all get out and wondering how was I ever gonna live through this?

Then one night I woke up and he was still sleeping peacefully. As I lay there watching him sleep and I couldn't help myself I had to pick him up and rock my sweet little angel. A little over two years ago my crazy active preschooler was just a tiny little peanut.

Kristin's Wedding Present

So I have been SUPER broke lately and my sister is getting married in 6 weeks. Her bridal shower which I am hosting is in two weeks and I was really starting to panic. I knew I wasn't going to be able to actually by her something as nice as what a sister/ Matron of Honor should buy the bride. So I have been racking my brain trying to figure out something nice yet not so expensive and it hit me! A few months ago I dabbled in beading, and made a nice necklace for myself with my son's name and my team colors and she LOVED it! So I got the creative juices flowing and after a week of prep time and ordering a few beads that I needed... this is the finished product

In case you cannot see the middle is a slide with a elegant script "G"

I am so proud! Lol and now that I have made her one I am dying to make me a few more with matching bracelets and earrings! Great another hobby, my Super Hero will be so thrilled!
