Pinned it/ Did it! Sight Word Practice Box

Alright, this is my first "Saw it, Pinned it, Did it" post! I am pretty excited about it! Jimmy Jam has not been doing well on his sight words for school. So on Pinterest the other day I found a pin for a "Sight Word Practice Box". So after checking out Teacher Mama's blog,I decided to make my own slightly different version! So here is the original from Teacher Mama:

Check out her blog, she has some really great ideas. And also the printable to make your own Sight Word Practice Box!

Anyway here is my Sight Word Practice Box made from Super Hero's shoe box!

I used regular envelopes and Jimmy Jam help cut construction paper to add some color. He also loved helping mommy glue all the envelopes to the box. Then I added the labels.
Here are some of the printable games that are in the box! Including Tic-Tac-Toe, Alien Sight Word Game, Bingo, and a Board Game. Teacher Mama has quite a few other game ideas on her blog, but we just started with a few to introduce the idea to Jimmy Jam and see if this will help him! He was so excited when we were finally done. We played for a solid hour! I loved it and so did he!
The final picture is of everything packed away in the box.
Other things in the box that are not pictured

*Scrap paper for Alien Game
* Dice (Free printable here
*Beans for Bingo game
*Colored Pencils
*Extra index cards

I have quite a few more "Pins" to get done. I will try to post my progress! Hope you all have a blessed day!

Big News!

Well in my last post I gave a little teaser about some exciting news, so here it is...

Yep we are expecting our third and last child!
And.... It's a Girl!!!! Yay!!!!!
:0)

Although we have her real name picked out I am still not sure what her nickname for the blog will be  so for now she is Baby Girl!

We are so super excited, well Super Hero, Jimmy Jam, and myself are excited. Buggy still insists that there is "No Baby" and he has no respect for mommies ever growing belly. I am 20 weeks today at the time of writing and he is now starting to say her name and help me pick "pretty" clothes, however he still says "No Baby"  if someone tries to ask him about her.

I never really had this issue with Jimmy Jam, from day one he was super excited about having a younger sibling. I think maybe because I always knew we would have another child I may have prepared him better. Buggy, I thought would be the last, so I never really prepared him for the possibility. I know it will all work out and he will love her!

I cannot begin to explain how blessed we are! Although we were not trying to conceive, (I honestly thought we were done having children, but adoption was on the table for later in life) we have prayed for a little girl for 5 years. God has answered our prayers and I cannot wait to hold that sweet gift from God in my arms!

God still answers prayers and we are the proof!

Jimmy Jam's First Day Of K-5

Sorry for my extended absence! There has been SOOO much going on! Super hero is out of the military now, we have moved back to our home state of South Carolina, new jobs, new home, and My little Jimmy Jam started K-5. It was a tearful/Wonderful/ Longest day ever! :-) He had a blast and has done so well these first few weeks! I just love when I get there to pick him up and he has so much to tell me and show me, but he is always sure to let me know that even though he loves school he still misses his mommy very much! What can I say? That boy has my heart! We have more exciting news coming soon... but I will wait until I have all the pics loaded to share!

From Discontent to Lovin' It!

Usually I write about my boys but I really must share the transformation that has taken place in the last few months! History: I have NEVER been good at cleaning... EVER! When I was younger my mom had a list of chores that had to be done Sat. morning before we could play or watch TV. I would try (my best) most of the time but I was REALLY bad at it. Fast forward to three months ago. The house was terrible, I was working part time and when I was home I would play with the boys and do EVERYTHING under the sun to put off washing or folding the ever growing pile of laundry, dishes would sit in the sink over 24 hours before I could make myself take care of it, The beds were never made... you get the point CHAOS was the state of our home. It wasn’t always like this, I would clean for hours and feel like nothing was getting done. as soon as I would finish one thing there were 12 other disasters to deal with, and as time went on I let it slip until I felt I could never get it into working order again, besides I sucked at it anyway, why try? Lol I know its terrible and I am SURE nothing like this ever happens in anyother household! :)
SO about two months ago I somehow stumbled upon this wonderful website called flylady.net She made it sound so easy. The first step to reclaiming my home she said was just Shine My Sink! Over the next few weeks I followed the “Baby Steps” and set my timer! 15 minutes at a time I am proud to say that my home has been transformed! I had no idea how depressed my messy home was making me! I am proud to say that dishes go directly into the dishwasher after meals and my sink is cleaned daily, clothes are washed, dried, and FOLDED in less than 24 hours. There is never a pile of clothes in the clothes basket EVER! And the biggest surprise... I am not cleaning 24 hours a day! I literally follow my routine, about 15- 20 minutes in the morning then 15- 20 in the afternoon, and 15-20 before bed and viola! I have a clean and orderly home that all can LOVE! Oh another big surprise I learned while on this clean home journey, I actually LIKE cleaning. I like the way I feel, I like the way my family feels, it is a burden lifted from my shoulders! I can promise you we will never go back to that dark place again! Even if your house isn't like mine was, I would still suggest you take a look at Marla and the Fly Lady team! You never know what you might learn! :)

Growing Boys

Since Jimmy Jam will be turning 5 in just a few months I figured I would go ahead and post these... I made something similar for our Family Scrap Book and really liked how it turned out! They are growing so fast!
